A proposal and a messy situation
A Proposal
From correcting the future to seeing Snowy Owls, I am sitting head in my hands in the office of Mrs Jill Dobson. Listening to her voice a dull ache spreads through me, this was evolving and now here was a stranger with a proposal. Mrs Zintalis had said I was doing Gods work, restoring order, correcting mistakes in the design before the wrong people die.
I had never considered being a spiritual guide, a proposal to be one was something I never thought I would have. Surely, I was following messages sent to me, I certainly don’t have the power of foresight.
I have been here an hour and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so unwell. Her voice reverberating around my head, life was getting complicated. The combination of fire, owls and death was a warning especially as the whole family were having the same dreams. Mrs Dobson believed that the real fire was imminent but the arrival of the owls made things much worse. We aren’t about to enter the apocalypse but something bad is on the way.
Telling Mrs Dobson that I’d consider her offer, I left feeling the heavy weight of responsibility. How many people are possibly involved in this disaster?
Betsy
The classroom is a distraction from the tragedy racing round her head. Too much is happening and she hoped her mum could work it out and fix it. School is normality, home is fear. Staring up at the wall behind Mrs Askey, the familiar eyes bore into her. She wondered how something as majestic as a Snowy Owl could be evil. Trying to concentrate on Algebra she needed to ignore it but how could she ignore its watching painted eyes.
A plan
Drinking coffee, after another restless night, churning the problem round and round. My answer finally came to me. Facebook usually provides time out from my life. Happy faces of friends who are unaware of my mission. A world where most don’t appear to have family issues, showing the world a story that they want others to see. If we were all honest and shared our woes, the reality would be shocking.
It was now, as I was scrolling down my news feed, that I saw it, they say ‘the Lord works in mysterious ways.’ There on my desktop was an advert for a party, not just any party, the photo showed flames, with a white owl flying majestically overhead. How am I supposed to stop a party? Surely this is a message to me and if it goes ahead then masses could die.
Thinking of Mrs Dobson’s proposal, maybe I’m already acting as a spiritual guide.
The party
Seeing a number, I picked up my mobile and dialled it, trying to compose myself, this had to work. As I heard a lady’s voice, I started to stammer.
“Hi, my names Lucy, could I please talk to your manager”
“Manager? can I help you.”
“Don’t think so, I need to speak to the person in charge.”
‘I’m sorry, but she’s not available.”
“This is important”.
“Lucy, Mrs Carlos is not going to talk with you.”
“What’s your name?”
“Kerstin, can I help?”
“Look Kerstin, I need her to cancel the Lakeside party.”
I heard laughing,
“Lucy, there are thousands already confirmed, you are surely joking.”
“No, no joke, it must be cancelled.”
More laughing,
“Lucy I will tell Mrs Carlos, but the party is going to happen.”
A phone call
As the line went dead, my mobile buzzed, I answered.
“Hi, its Mrs Dobson, I need you to meet with me, now” she sounded rushed.
Maybe she could help cancel the Lakeside party, we have just days to do something. I just hope we can. Grabbing my coat and keys I ran out of the house, what was I about to learn now?
