My secret life as a cat
I crept out the back.
To show them a bit of slack.
Now I shall attack!
Now I creep past fellows…
I shall now bellow!
How dare you approach me.
I now rest beyond.
Sadly, I have no more bond…
Can this be the end?
They put up a fight.
Why is it so light and bright?
A torch shall be shown.
My cover is blown!
I try to jump, pounce, and run.
What a rubbish pun…
Now I rest at home.
I sleep under the sofa.
Do I go again…?
This is my twelve year olds Haiku – 5, 7, 5 poetry. I loved it so much that I have shared it here. Hope you enjoy it too!

Dear Dad
Dear Dad – Three years today
Three years ago. we lost you,
The pain, the hurt we cried.
These years have been the hardest,
If you are here, I will not hide.
The pain of loss, the pain of grief,
It just goes on and on.
The tears, the memories, the things unsaid,
I can’t accept that you are gone.
The children still talk about you,
I think we always will.
Riding a golden bus with you is a memory they have still.
For the life not lead, and opportunities missed.
Things should have happened differently,
Conversations, understanding, hugs and love.
I hope you know how much you meant to us.
Your not here now and you should be.
Goodbye
Three years ago, we said goodbye,
I wish it hadn’t happened!
So much that’s been left unsaid,
Conversations that should have been had.
Dad if you are here today,
I hope you know you are loved.
We will never ever forget you and will never stop thinking about you!
Losing dad to pancreatic Cancer – 8th November 2020, was sudden and very hard. Keep your loved ones close, have the difficult conversations. Don’t have regrets because you can’t turn back time later. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of the Covid Pandemic which meant seeing each other was harder and we were shielding, many complications.
Sitting here now crying, I can’t turn back time, but I just hope he knows how much he was truly loved and how much he is missed! There is so much that we should have done, so many times where due to the stress of life I had to say no. Thinking back could I have said yes? To be honest I don’t know. Would things have played out differently? again we do not know. Spend that time and have those conversations while you can! They might be more important then you think!

In memory to the best dad
To you, the best dad in the world,Throughout my life, my heart you have held. From problems at school to being my chauffeur,Helping in my garden and fixing my furniture.Caring for the children and being a good grandad,They all love you and remember the fun they have had. From days out and being picked up from the school door,Now you are gone, we all can’t be with you anymore. Here we are now, sat with our memories,All of that fun, is now in our history.Dear dad you will always be remembered,A man like you, memories that won’t be surrendered.I remember evenings listening to you dictate,When you worked, you were always home late.Coming home to your dinner, warmed up in the ovenAnd all evening you were then alone in the dining room.Working through housing report after report,As a Surveyor many relationships you have built.Spending many years out on the road,Looking after us and our precious abode.Despite working hard, you made time for us and our homework,Maths and Geography, one night you helped me learn about the Earth. You wrote out my times-tables, and you taught me the time,I remember you smiling from hearing me rhyme. Now you are gone, this pain is hard to describe,But my heart hurts, it hurts from inside.Note:
Though dad was working in the dining room he had frequent interruptions from us, so wasn’t completely alone. His dinner was warmed up as he would eat as soon as he came in the door, before going back to his work. So this isn’t as bad as it sounds.
Dads greenhouse in the photo was built by him from windows from their neighbours house, he was a very clever man!
