Dear Dad

Dear Dad – Three years today

Three years ago. we lost you,

The pain, the hurt we cried.

These years have been the hardest,

If you are here, I will not hide.

The pain of loss, the pain of grief,

It just goes on and on.

The tears, the memories, the things unsaid,

I can’t accept that you are gone.

The children still talk about you,

I think we always will.

Riding a golden bus with you is a memory they have still.

For the life not lead, and opportunities missed.

Things should have happened differently,

Conversations, understanding, hugs and love.

I hope you know how much you meant to us.

Your not here now and you should be.

Goodbye

Three years ago, we said goodbye,

I wish it hadn’t happened!

So much that’s been left unsaid,

Conversations that should have been had.

Dad if you are here today,

I hope you know you are loved.

We will never ever forget you and will never stop thinking about you!

Losing dad to pancreatic Cancer – 8th November 2020, was sudden and very hard.  Keep your loved ones close, have the difficult conversations. Don’t have regrets because you can’t turn back time later.  Unfortunately, we were in the middle of the Covid Pandemic which meant seeing each other was harder and we were shielding, many complications.

Sitting here now crying, I can’t turn back time,  but I just hope he knows how much he was truly loved and how much he is missed!  There is so much that we should have done, so many times where due to the stress of life I had to say no. Thinking back could I have said yes? To be honest I don’t know.  Would things have played out differently? again we do not know.  Spend that time and have those conversations while you can!  They might be more important then you think!

My thoughts are with you and I am sending healing energy to you. I try to remember that relationships are finite and now that I know how to communicate well, I can do better.

Dear Marian. Yes we should NEVER take anything for granted, we never know when the last day will be, in a minute, a day, a week or a month down the road. I have also lost my Mom and Dad many many years ago and till today would love to give them another hug, a kiss and talk to them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here

Thanks Esme, it is so hard! Yes none of us knows what is around the next corner. Yes would be really lovely to see those we have lost another time and hold them!
