Another long Wednesday
Today is another long Wednesday,
Another day to work and play.
Another day with kids at school,
Following life’s never-ending rules.
Today was bright, today was chilly,
Must go to work, can’t stay at home and be silly.Standing here looking at my daughter’s room,
Looking at the mess, looking at the bears of doom.
She often asks for more dolls and toys,
I’m wondering if girls are messier then boys.
My son will often try and be tidy,
Blaming his sister, should I tidy it on Friday?
So back to Wednesday, back to today,
I sat and listened to what people had to say.
Sometimes it is nice to have an adult conversation,
Whether it is about the weather, life, or a personal celebration.
Chatting and laughing, passing the time,
Can make life easier, make it feel fine.
The children reported a better day at school,
The kids came home happy, playing the fool.
My son sat with grandad and did his reading,
My daughter taking biscuits, the mischief she was leading.
My parents they were tired from the kids acting up,
They like to play, they like to push their luck.
So here we are and Wednesday is over,
Sitting here calm on the sofa.
Resting watching television and Coronation street,
Wondering if these are people I would like to meet.
Would I like a Shandy in the Rovers Return?
Sitting here thinking, there is so much I would like to learn.
The kids they went straight to bed tonight,
After jumping on the beds and having a fight.
The work and the effort mum has to make,
Putting on the smile, trying not to be fake.
I love my kids but wow I am exhausted,
Time for bed soon, to renew myself, not look haunted.
So tomorrow is Thursday, another busy day,
Breakfast club again and mum to work, can’t stay and play.
A morning of typing on my computer,
Working and following my usual procedure.
So now I am going to get some rest,
Time to relax, so tomorrow I can give my best.

Tuesday plimsoll stress
The kids returned to school yesterday, the Christmas holiday is well and truly over. Time has raced and so did the weekend. Homework was completed last thing on Sunday evening.
I left them both at breakfast club, all kids back and school as usual. The after school clubs have started back as well.
Today started in the usual way. I did not want to get up this morning but, the kids had to go to school and we had to take daddy to work. We left the house on time and started our journey.
Arriving at school the children noticed the black cat across the road. They both started screaming in excitement. I made them wait in the car as we were early but they started their usual climbing and general car wrecking. It makes taking them to school stressful when they won’t just sit still. We sat for a few minutes listening to the radio with me trying to get them to just sit.
When we finally got out the car, they immediately ran over to the cat. Soon after they were chasing it around the person’s garden. 7.50am and there I am, loaded up with coats and school bags, screaming at them to come back and get out of the garden. I have told them so many times that they should not do it, but they wont stop, especially when there is an animal involved.
Another mum walking past and also a helper at the school told them to get out of the garden. My 7 year old listened to her, then looked a bit upset that she had spoken to him like that. At least he listened to her, I just wish that he would have left the cat alone when I asked him to.
I left them at school, looking forward to my day ahead, time alone at last. However, a day that could have been so relaxing was not. At 8.45 am I was washing the car, and at 9.45am I was repainting my daughters bedroom wall again and realising that it would need another coat and maybe another after that. At 10.30am I was using the VAX again on my sons bedroom carpet as someone had drawn on it and no I could not get the pen out. I also vacuumed and had another load of washing to do plus some work that needed to be done. It was a busy day even though a day to myself.
The children had after school club. My son had football, he had been outside in his shorts and was cold and covered in mud. His plimsolls were also caked in it, nice mess for mum. He took his plimsolls off inside the school complaining that they were muddy then wanted to walk to the car in just his socks. This was our first argument over mud today. I made him put them on to walk to the car. He then started throwing them to get the mud off. Yes they are only a cheap pair of plimsolls, but why throw them? He did not achieve anything and ended up walking back with the mud.
Before collecting daddy from work we visited my parents. Here both kids complained about being hungry and raided their biscuits. My daughter will not just take one, she grabs two or three at a time. Neither child will just sit either, after a day at school they should be exhausted but they were still busily running around.
This evening time vanished between getting home, having a bath and dinner. We got in and I was sorting out their bags, I could not find my sons plimsolls as needed to clean them as he has PE tomorrow. I searched and could not find them. He told me that he had brought them in but did not know where they were. Finally at 8.00pm he admitted that they were in the car. So he had walked from car to house in just his socks. Is this just my child that does this? Yes they were muddy, but not inside. The mud was on the soles and outside.
So after getting them to bed and stress of them both jumping on the bed (night after night). I was able to say good night and leave them. The plimsolls are now drying in the airing cupboard, I am hoping they are dry tomorrow. I think he will be very lucky if they are.
Back to work again tomorrow for me, a normal busy work day. Roll on Saturday, I need a lie in! I am now going to go and get some rest and sleep. Ready for a busy day tomorrow and the usual morning stress of being mum.

She often hopes and wishes
Written in response to Patricia’s place blog
Write a story or poem of 5 Lines or Less using the word wishes
A mum starts her day with affirmations that lead to her aspirations.
She wants the best but she needs a rest,
As her children put her love to the test.
She often hopes and wishes,
And gives her family plenty of kisses.https://patriciasplace.me/2019/01/02/in-other-words-wishes/
