Today was Wednesday and it did not start well,
The breakfast club, the school the usual mum rush hell.
My daughter had her shreddies, my son he refused his food,
He had already had toast, he was really not in the mood.

Leaving the kids I then drove to work,
Driving down the carriageway a siren was going berserk.
Looking in my mirror I could see a police car,
Quickly approaching, it was not far.

Soon sat in the traffic, frustrated listening to the radio,
The programme talked of brexit , it’s all not good you know.
Finally I saw the scene of an accident,
An ambulance and the police were recording the incident.

Once through the traffic, I finally arrived at work,
Thoughts racing through my head, I hope nobody was hurt.
I walked in late and turned on the computer,
It’s slow but when you are late you will it to go faster.

I finally was able to start but I was running late,
Not running to time I really hate.
A little while later I left to drive to the office,
Battling with the cold and rain, I really don’t like this.

The phonecalls that I made and the letters I had to type,
The stress of scribbling all I have to write.
Letters to doctors and phone calls to patients,
Trying to decide which ones are urgent.

It’s nice to see people, it’s nice to have a chat,
Maybe once in a while have a chance to relax.
My paper work completed, my work all up to date,
I then left for home to see the kids and relate.

Arriving at my parents, I was greeted by both the children.
Happy to see me they hugged me, it’s a nice welcome.
My daughter had an accident a few days ago,
Today she ripped her plaster off, my reaction was “oh no”.

I don’t like blood it makes me weak, it brings me to my knees,
Right now I’m asking daddy to put a plaster back on it, please.
She is stood here refusing as any 5 year old would,
And we are trying to convince her that she needs it, to wear it she really should.

So sat here cooking dinner, it’s unhealthy fish and chips,
My 7 year old wants it now, I really don’t think he wants uncooked bits.
The oven won’t cook faster, he will have to wait,
Before he sees the baked beans goodness added to his plate.

My son sits on the iPod, he really should be reading.
Unfortunately my demands he really is not heeding.
Sat here on the floor he is wrapped up in a duvet,
Right now I am not in the mood to just watch him play.

Spellings and homework on the River Nile,
He will not add more to it, it will have to wait a while.
For my 7 year old is saying he has done all he can,
I’m not so sure but he has installed a homework ban.

My 5 year old has come home and straight away got changed.
Yesterday we got home and her bedroom she rearranged.
Yes mummy finally had enough and put her toys in a bin liner,
I think seeing this did actually really scare her.

So the bedroom is now tidy, just for the moment,
Tidied by my 5 year old without stress or incident.
Is it a case that mummy actually won?
I’m not so sure as her work will soon be undone.

Time is ticking on and it’s now gone seven,
Hoping that soon I can put the kids to bed and say goodnight to them.
Then I can put my feet up in front of the tele,
To watch the soaps and have time to relax for me.

So to the stressed out mum what would I recommend,
For nights when you are to tired to talk or phone a friend.
Reading a book or resting in the  bath,
Spend some time with daddy and try and have a laugh.

Trying to be happy and put the day behind you,
For the day is over and there’s not much more to do.
The kids are in bed now time to sit and rest,
For throughout the day as mum we always give our best.

Sitting here now eating my ice cream,
The kids are in bed I’m hoping they are enjoying their dreams.
Soon time for sleep, soon time to read my book,
Time to rest, time to read and look.

So not long now till tomorrow starts again,
Back again to the same old plan.
So now time to rest and soon time to sleep,
Time to relax and a calm mind to keep.

For more see, Friday and tired and glum
