Black Friday and Christmas presents poetry
End of November
It’s the end of November and I’m sitting here,
Wondering what has happened to this year.
Another year gone, another year has raced,
Time is flying by at a very fast pace.Here we are now, it’s Black Friday again,
Time for shoppers to try and get a bargain.
The shops they are busy with the ringing of tills,
As people run up their credit card bills.The roads they are busy with delivery drivers,
Being met by eager happy purchasers.
Goods being left in sheds, porches and wheelie bins,
The pressure is rising and patience is wearing thin.Black Friday
So, what have I bought this Black Friday time?

I wanted new Ugg boots, my feet they now shine.
My old Ugg Cardy boots, the soles were a mess,
My new purple Bailey boots I can wear to impress.
My new stripey slippers they keep my feet warm,
My bank card is resting, my money is gone.
The childrens demands, forever for toys,
Scalectrix and dolls for happy girls and boys.As you know my daughter’s room is often untidy,
I saw this big Unicorn, not part of black Friday.
The unicorn in the supermarket it’s staying,
Despite the temptation to just keep on buying.Presents
I bought my children new storage boxes to hide,
In the hope they would tidy and put their toys inside.
My son has done this, just as he’s been told,
My daughter, no difference, her bears are exposed to the cold.

Amazon are offering their new Alexa deals,
The Kindle Fire it is now priced at a steal.
Do I buy the kids new kindle devices?
The kids make me mad, regardless of the good prices.Trying to get the children a good book to read,
Maybe a Kindle reader is actually what they need.
The stress and the joy of buying the right presents,
Do you buy all they ask for? disappointment can be intense.For now, what I’ve bought has been constructive,
Making their presents fun and interactive.
I’ve bought them both puzzles and a green puzzle mat,
Helping them find the pieces to match this and that.
Christmas is under one month away,
With much anticipation of the great day.
One good present to purchase, is an Amazon voucher,
They can buy what they want, and receive it a little later.So, these are just some present ideas,
Trying to reduce your Christmas present fears.
Others include, K-nex, Barbie and Lego,
For online shopping, Amazon is the place to go.So now I have the Christmas cards to write,
Now to write them, Christmas is in sight.

Books, reading, blogging, writing and life
Does anyone else have a growing number of books begging to be read? I want to read them but between blogging, writing and life, I am struggling.

I am currently reading Ravens Gathering by Graeme Cumming on my Kindle. I’ve only read a few pages and already there is action. This book needs to be read.
Other books, Past Tense by Lee Child. I purchased somewhere near Christmas, I started it and then life took over. It is the latest book in the Jack Reacher series.
Defender and Hunted by G.X (Gemma) Todd (the first two books in the Voice’s series). As a reader of Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Lee Child, I am looking forward to reading these. If you are in a book shop or perusing books on Amazon these look very good. Also to note, book three Survivors is due for release on October 31st 2019 but can be preordered.
On Writing by Stephen King. As a writer, I need to finish reading it. This book was recommended to me by other writers.
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger has been recommended to me as I’m writing a time travel novel. A few days ago I was given the film, I still need to watch it. Does anyone know why traveler’s is spelt wrong? It is spelt this way on the book and the film.
Today my garden desperately needs weeding and homework needs to be done. I have so far walked to town and back and am now sat in my garden. I’m tired and the weeds are shouting but I’m not motivated to do anything about them.
Sitting reading my Kindle seems the easier option. I need to read and the weeds can wait. Meanwhile, the kids are in the house with daddy all happy on their technical gadgets.
My son must be one of the few that doesn’t have a Nintendo games station or equivalent. He uses an old IPad or the desktop computer. Daddy equally enjoys playing games which really doesn’t help.
Today I found Mr Stink by David Walliams in the library. I picked it up for my nearly eight-year-old in the hope that he will read it. He’s put it to one side and gone back to Minecraft. I tried, how do you get a child obsessed with games to read?
Talking to fellow blogger Jemima Pett at this year’s Bloggers Bash, we talked about books for children with funny names. I hoped that Mr Stink wouldn’t just be thrown to one side, but for now, it has. If I could confiscate the computer games I would, but I don’t think daddy would support me. He enjoys his games too much. Maybe Mr Stink will be picked up later.
Anyway, I’m now going to try and do some reading, hopefully, later I might get more of my novel written. I still need to think more about my characters. I came to a bit of a wall yesterday with my lead character, maybe, for now, I just need to keep typing my first draft.
Trying to keep up with everything is a challenge for a lot of us, I need to manage my time better. Try and make the most of those rare times when we are not doing much. It did occur to me that I could have read my Kindle walking to town, but then tripping over or walking into someone or something is never fun.
My daughter has now joined me, she is trying to read My Little Pony. Maybe she will be the next book lover in this family.

10 Fantastic books to help writers
As a new writer, I have realised that I need to read more. Books, reading and writing all tie together. How do you fit writing and reading around family life? The answer, with difficulty. I am currently writing a time travel novel and need to read more time travel books. A walk to the library is in my near future. I started a crime novel back in 2018, but for now, that is saved in the cloud. One day I intend to go back to it and finish it. As a writer, you often hear the phrase, “Show don’t tell”. What does this really mean? Does it mean long drawn out descriptions or just a sentence, like, ‘she pulled her hood and coat around her’ rather than ‘she thought it was cold’?
While writing I have now been thinking more about my character descriptions and trying to draw the reader into my book. It was my birthday on Tuesday so handy Amazon vouchers have now been invested in my desire to write my book. So here are some recommendations for helpful books for writers.

I then bought myself a new notebook and some pens. Hoping to spark my creativity and writing. So far I have written out my timeline in pink and green. My aim for this weekend is to write it out again on a long roll of wallpaper. I’m trying to work between the time of the dinosaurs until the year 5000 at present. It is becoming confusing.

I am learning that writing a book is much more work than I originally thought. However, I am learning along the way and it is a good experience despite all the work.

I am now going to reboil the kettle for more tea, then have another look at time travel and my novel.
Are there any books that you would recommend? Writing is a long road but once my first draft is written I’m sure I will feel rewarded. Tea and chocolate are helping me along the way at present.
