    Writing, researching and life

This last week has been busy as I’m trying to write 10 000 words in March for Chapter Buzz. I reached my goal last night 16th March. I wonder if I could get to 20 000? So many writers participate in Nanowrimo (National Novel writing month) where they write 50 000 words, I know that right now I could not do this. Maybe if I did not work and my children were a lot older this would be achievable.

So, I am now writing The Secret Time Warp developing my short story. Writing science fiction is harder then I imagined and I know I have covered too much too soon. It needs more depth and I need to do some research. With time travel though a lot is theories. It is trying to not rewrite what has already been written. Mine has got to be new with new ideas.

Professor Hawking has said that we cannot travel back in time as it is against the laws of physics, we can only go forward. My time tunnels go both ways. I recently read about a group of scientists in Moscow who used a Quantum computer to reverse time. I have a lot to read and hopefully by the time I have finished I will have a greater understanding of time travel.

My 5 year old was star of the week on Friday. She has been working hard and wrote a lovely story about going for a job as a knight. Her teacher asked her if she got the job and she said yes. My son learnt to swim on Thursday. He tells me that he can now do breast stroke. The first stroke I learnt was the crawl and I did not learn as fast as him. This was only his third lesson. So, both children are doing well. Though today we have a refusal to do homework and reading but we will get there.

We are currently living in a building site. The need for a new bathroom finally fulfilled with a nice new white bathroom suite. The mess of decorating but knowledge that soon our living space will be greatly improved. My dad has taken off the old tiles and is replacing them with new.

I am now trying to find some new navy curtains.  I do not want black out, its my bathroom not bedroom. Too many are blackout and then others are only available on line with a delivery charge. Why do shops complicate it? I want to walk in, choose my curtains, buy them and walk out. Having seen them and touched them. Rather then buy online, hate them, then try and send them back or take them back to the shop.

We live walking distance from Dunelm but searching online I cannot see anything suitable. I am contemplating going for a walk and checking if there is anything else in store.

I am now wanting light blue bathroom paint. I’m not sure if Dulux is any better then the cheaper products but we have pink paint peeling off the walls right now! They recently closed Homebase near us. I am regretting not thinking ahead and buying it before the shop closed. So, I need to do a trek across town to B and Q for bathroom paint. It will be worth it once it is finished, but it is a lot of work for all involved now (especially my dad).

So today I plan to get back to writing my book and time travel research. We also have homework to complete. My daughter is writing about castles and knights. My son is learning about transport and travel. I have school uniforms to iron and life as usual. Yet another busy Sunday. So what are your plans for today?

The blur of life as it goes by

The blur of life as it goes by,
I’m at a point way up high.
    Looking down upon the town,
Trying to smile and not frown.

Life goes by way too fast,
Before too long our time is past.
We need to enjoy what we are given
As it goes too fast while we are living.

From being kids, our lives get harder
As we work and then become a mother or father.
The blur of life it carries on,
Until one day we will all be gone.

We all need to enjoy what we have got,
We all should try to worry not.
As all our lives just race on by,
I admire people who can just sigh.

    The country can be beautiful,
The trees and animals are dutiful.
We all should try and respect our time,
As the blur of life it will continue to shine.

We are all given different lives,
    With all very separate ties.
Our friends our families the things we love,
The blur of life, then life up above.

Life can feel slow while we are living,
But time it races, at times we feel hidden.
We all enter the world of work,
As life goes by we all will hurt.

The hurt and fear we may sometimes feel,
Our thoughts and emotions are all very real.
Life evolves and time goes on,
As the blur of life will soon be gone

From being kids to giving birth,
To all the stress, for all its worth.
The love we feel and then the grandchildren,
As the blur of life, it is not hidden.

We all need to slow down time,
Enjoy what we have, it’s not a crime.
As time goes on and continues to fly,
We all need to stay calm and walk on by.

Tuesday mud and a Teddy bears picnic

Today was Tuesday again, ending in alot of mud. Yesterday I watched a Teddy bears picnic.   We have had a busy start to the week and right now I am exhausted with mum stress as it seems by 5 year old has put a hole her duvet.. I was trying to relax – also trying to sort out a blogging issue but that’s a whole other problem and now after my rant I now find myself alone. Am I happy? no, do I want to cry? yes, am I going to? no. I’ll just scream inside instead.

So here is my week, yesterday and today started the same, still the arguments before leaving the house.  Then racing the kids into school for breakfast club. Yesterday I had work, yet another busy day.  At the end of my day though I rushed to school to watch my 5 year old perform a Teddy bears picnic.  It was only about 2 minutes long but it was lovely.  She does ballet club on a Monday and they have been practicing with their teddy bears.  She remembered all her movements and did a really lovely job. All the children were amazing and I filmed it with my mobile phone.

Our world would be so different without our smart phones.  Imagine how many more photos or how  much video footage there would he of us if our parents had them.  I must have thousands of pictures, to many to develop and hours of video.  The closest my parents have is slides.  We used to enjoy watching slide shows.

Today has been a day off for me.  I was happy to leave them at school this morning, looking forward to my day.  I was planning on reading my book, this again didn’t happen.  When writing a blog there always seems to be something that needs to be done.  I still have about 50 posts that I need to rework for SEO and I am wondering if I have done the others right.  I think like with everything, blogging improves with experience and knowledge.   Managing photos and Word Press is all part of that.

This afternoon my 7 year old had foot ball club and our daughter, numbers. At 3.00 today it was raining hard, we thought well at least he wont come home covered in mud.   Well an hour later when I collected him  I was greeted by a very cold muddy child, shivering looking throughly miserable.  The photos here look better then the muddy mess that he really was.

We got home and he immediately went and ran a bath.  Why do schools do this?  I agree that it is good for them to get some fresh air and my boy loves football but not in the pouring rain.  This is the child who moans for his umbrella if he feels a splash of rain on his head. Also of course, all his clothes and plimsolls had to be washed, he has PE tomorrow, so they are now all drying on the radiators.  His top will not be ironed in the morning but at least it will be clean.  I just hope it is dry.

My 5 year old enjoyed numbers and she had managed to acquire a hair band from a friend.  Her hair is a frequent mess not helped by the fact that she will not brush it and she has cut it herself so many times.  I should really take her to see a hairdresser but there is not much they could do with it right now.  She can only just get it in a pony tail. It is either growing very slowly or her cutting it herself is keeping it short but it is mess as very thin as well.

We managed to get reading done tonight but it looks like my son’s River Nile homework will be handed in as it is.  At least he has done something, tomorrow we really must work on their spellings.

Bedtime tonight was a nightmare as usual and now it looks like I have a Care bear duvet to repair.  I am reluctant to replace it as she was climbing inside it when the accident happened.  I was not very sympathetic and at 9.00 in the evening she should be asleep not playing.

So here we are, end of Tuesday.  My reading not achieved again. Work on Pinterest not achieved either or my previous blog posts SEOd.  Tomorrow I have another busy day starting with a trip to the office about 20 minutes away. They have forecast snow tonight, I really hope that it stays away.  Like alot of people I hate driving in it.

I am now going to go, find daddy and try and get some rest before the morning arrives and the day starts again.  Bringing with it the stress and work of being mum.
