Today is Friday and i’ve been feeling glum,
Sitting feeling sorry for myself feeling tired and done.
I’ve been sat here looking at the winter weather,
Whilst trying to read The Foreigner. a book by Stephen Leather.
A few days ago I managed to buy the film with Jackie Chan,
It has some subtitles but is in English, I am a real huge fan.I sat and read but with the tiredness I just wanted to sleep,
The pages blurred and I gave up, before I got to deep.
So soon there I was with thoughts going around my head,
Lying there, comfortable feeling warm in my bed.
Sleep soon filled my head with dreams and then they were disturbed
As Alexa then rang the alarm bell, I really felt quite perturbed.I got up and looked at my daughter’s untidy room,
The mess is not inviting, it is a mess again too soon.
Teddy bears, toys and clothes all scattered on the floor,
It is an obstacle course to reach the wardrobe doors.
Why will our 5 year old not tidy her mess?
Instead of mummy feeling upset and distressed. My day was soon over and I had to collect the children,
Had to drive to school then stand and wait before I could take them.
Our daughter was really happy, as proudly our little leader,
Told me her reading has improved and she’s now on Accelerated Reader.
The excitement of the reading was then doubled by our son,
Who is doing well with his numbers and finding them real fun.Once home I really hoped that they would tidy their rooms,
Our son he did protest but he did not refuse.
My daughter she looked at it but then she stood and cried,
Happy to climb over her toy mountain, wanting to play and hide.
The children they will so rarely do as they are told,
As I stand here, watching them, feeling grey and old.So here we are and the kids still have their messy rooms,
They are now both asleep and morning will be here all too soon.
The weekend will bring homework and more arguments and stress,
The work goes on, so busy, no time for mum to rest.
Tomorrow will bring washing and Sunday then the ironing,
A mum’s job is never done, I rarely feel I’m winning.I hope we can have some quality time and spend some time together,
Make some happy memories our ties we will never sever.
Playing with the lego or maybe with the train’s,
Maybe we will go outside if it doesn’t rain.
The homework it still needs to be completed,
Despite all the stress it presents, we will not be defeated. So now it is late, I’m going to find my bed,
Hoping sleep will ease the pain in my head.
Tomorrow I hope will be a better day,
So as they say, i’m now going to bed and hit the hay.
Sitting here now writing my poetry,
I’m feeling calm and quiet, now it’s time for me.For more see, Another long Wednesday
