Sunday ghosts
Today I was woken by my 5 year old cuddling up to me, morning cuddles very nice but why so early? A little bit later my 7 year old joins her. They had both bought in their electronic gadgets so were now lying in bed next to me playing their games. They then wanted the light on, err no sorry it’s to early for the light. They soon after left, leaving me in peace. Now maybe I should have got up at that point, but lazily I reached for my tablet and started reading Facebook. Where would we be without Facebook? There would be so many people that we would no longer talk to. However I’m sure there are many people on mine that would not say hello if I passed them in the street. I am a member of quite a few Facebook groups and I have my favourites that I revisit again and again. I have amongst other groups, my mum groups, my selling groups, my Amazon Alexa group and now my blogging groups. Facebook has made the world smaller it has connected so many of us. I have people that I have never met that I would call a friend.
The world of the internet is massive. I met my husband on a dating site, he only lived about 9 miles away but without the internet we possibly would never have met. Our lives would be completely different, our children would possibly be different children, my husband a different man. None of us knows how different our lives could have been if we had made different choices. Would we somehow have still ended up at the same ending? Would I have met him one day at work instead of the internet if I had not had access to it? We will never know. Our lives evolve and things happen to us, I like to think there is a reason for it all, but some of the things that have happened, I still do not understand why they have happened. I think only time will tell.
So today is Sunday, daddy has installed a ghost app on the iPad and the kids are running around screaming about ghosts. My 7 year old has just announced he wants to be awake at midnight because that’s when the ghosts come out and the iPad will find them. However right now they are screaming about ghosts scaring each other. Why did my husband install a ghost app? I think some days that the neighbours must hate us. We have a semi detached house and I am sure they hear everything. They are very friendly and always nice when we see them, but I’m sure there must be some days when they either pity us or wonder why we can’t control them better.
I’m sat here now drinking coffee thinking about today’s tasks. The garden still needs to be mowed, the weeds are growing. I have a pile of ironing, school clothes, do I leave them for a few more days? It is school holidays after all. Though looking at them knowing the job still needs to be done is going to frustrate me. There is Lego again all over our lounge and over my 7 year olds bedroom. One day the kids will shock us and just tidy up after themselves. Till then it is the ongoing battle between parent and child to just tidy up. The Lego was confiscated last week, yesterday they found it in our bedroom and took it downstairs, claiming mummy said we could have it. I certainly had not, but now somehow they have it back. I find it painful confiscating stuff especially when it has cost us so much money. However, Lego everywhere is no fun. My 5 year old stepped on a Lego brick last night and cut her foot, yes she cried, yes Lego is evil. We told her that is why you two must tidy up the Lego once you have played. I think it is wishful thinking that they will.
Anyway so I am now going to get off my behind and have a look at today’s work. I just want to sit but mum can not do that. Again daddy is cooking dinner, we have lasagne. I think I’m going to venture into the mess in the lounge, turn off the television that nobody is watching and turn off the lamp that no one is using. Then maybe start the ironing or get the washing in and put it away. Yes Sunday again but the jobs continue. The kids meanwhile are amusing themselves. I can hear them playing and I am sure the mess upstairs is just growing. Why can I just not shut the door on it? I so wish I could. I think we need better bribery techniques to get them to tidy, something that we need to work out. We have tried many things but nothing works. Maybe I just need to be more relaxed and not worry about it.
Anyway back to Sunday, I think that the ironing is now calling me, oh the joys of being mum.
