Wednesday morning woes

1540372424749500921789Today all was quiet until a scream was heard, “mummy there’s ink on my bed” and then “mummy what day is it”? Then “mummy my drawer is broken”. My 5 year old trying to get dressed and wanting the correct socks for the day. We found one Wednesday sock, the other one must still be in with the washing somewhere. I am always losing socks. She has now decided she wants to wear odd pink socks. Happily she has gone back downstairs. My 7 year old is now shouting for her, wanting to build Lego again.  This house is rarely quiet for long, not when the kids are here and awake.

I found that my 7 year old had blue ink coloured hands late last night. He would not tell me why and I let him go back to sleep. I have now found out that he has coloured four of his toy cars in blue pen. Not sure where he found the pen, he must have been climbing again in the kitchen. The big pens are kept in a tin on top of the kitchen cupboards with the theory that they are safe up there away from  the kids, they are not. Why do kids always climb? He is now claiming his sister did it, however he is the one covered in blue ink, so the evidence points to him. Another job for mum? Or will daddy clean them?

We all survived the dentist yesterday and easily found somewhere to park. So I was worrying about nothing there. My 7 year old was not happy with the fluoride she put in his mouth. He would have been even less happy if I had agreed to let her extract his wobbly tooth.  Why would you put a 7 year old through the pain of tooth extraction? It will fall out by myself soon.  Plus chances are we would have lost it between the dentist and home and that would have caused issues with the tooth fairy. So with everyone else she just looked in their mouths and said “yes good all ok”. For me she got out her cleaning drill and scraper, not sure of the technical term for it but she was cleaning my teeth. All fine, no concerns but she wanted to clean them anyway. I sat there holding on to the chair tightly and wincing every time she caught my gums with her scraper. I hate going to the dentist.

So today has been messed up with having to wait in for the new oven this afternoon. Delivery between 1 – 5, will be so glad when it has arrived and we have a working grill.  I have another pile of washing, including the sheet with ink on.  The drawer is broken, the runners have come off due to my 5 year old being rough with it.  It is a Argos bed with drawers underneath, so metal runners that are not very strong. I have also noticed a pen mark on the new painted wall.  Why did I bother? And do I re-paint it again?  We still need to have a big tidy up and I need to somehow wash the white Flokati rug. I’m going to have white fluff all over the bath. It was probably dirty before the ice cream and blueberry  incident but it did not look dirty.  I’m sure the bath water will turn a lovely shade of brown, I just don’t want to ruin it. Turn it from white to grey but I’m going to have to be brave and do it.

The kids are now happily playing in my 7 year olds bedroom. It is good when they play together nicely. However it often ends in tears as one upsets the other. Their happy chatter is lovely to hear and their imaginative play makes me proud to be their mum.

I am now going to venture into the day and find my morning mug of coffee and weetabix.  Then try and tackle washing the Flokati rug. Would be nice to put a film on later, maybe all cuddle up with Netflix. However we all need to do some tidying in the house first and the lawn still needs to be mowed. Failing to get motivated right now but really need to get things done. Maybe I will feel more motivated after I have had my coffee or maybe not.
