Writing, researching and life
This last week has been busy as I’m trying to write 10 000 words in March for Chapter Buzz. I reached my goal last night 16th March. I wonder if I could get to 20 000? So many writers participate in Nanowrimo (National Novel writing month) where they write 50 000 words, I know that right now I could not do this. Maybe if I did not work and my children were a lot older this would be achievable.
So, I am now writing The Secret Time Warp developing my short story. Writing science fiction is harder then I imagined and I know I have covered too much too soon. It needs more depth and I need to do some research. With time travel though a lot is theories. It is trying to not rewrite what has already been written. Mine has got to be new with new ideas.
Professor Hawking has said that we cannot travel back in time as it is against the laws of physics, we can only go forward. My time tunnels go both ways. I recently read about a group of scientists in Moscow who used a Quantum computer to reverse time. I have a lot to read and hopefully by the time I have finished I will have a greater understanding of time travel.
My 5 year old was star of the week on Friday. She has been working hard and wrote a lovely story about going for a job as a knight. Her teacher asked her if she got the job and she said yes. My son learnt to swim on Thursday. He tells me that he can now do breast stroke. The first stroke I learnt was the crawl and I did not learn as fast as him. This was only his third lesson. So, both children are doing well. Though today we have a refusal to do homework and reading but we will get there.
We are currently living in a building site. The need for a new bathroom finally fulfilled with a nice new white bathroom suite. The mess of decorating but knowledge that soon our living space will be greatly improved. My dad has taken off the old tiles and is replacing them with new.

I am now trying to find some new navy curtains. I do not want black out, its my bathroom not bedroom. Too many are blackout and then others are only available on line with a delivery charge. Why do shops complicate it? I want to walk in, choose my curtains, buy them and walk out. Having seen them and touched them. Rather then buy online, hate them, then try and send them back or take them back to the shop.
We live walking distance from Dunelm but searching online I cannot see anything suitable. I am contemplating going for a walk and checking if there is anything else in store.
I am now wanting light blue bathroom paint. I’m not sure if Dulux is any better then the cheaper products but we have pink paint peeling off the walls right now! They recently closed Homebase near us. I am regretting not thinking ahead and buying it before the shop closed. So, I need to do a trek across town to B and Q for bathroom paint. It will be worth it once it is finished, but it is a lot of work for all involved now (especially my dad).
So today I plan to get back to writing my book and time travel research. We also have homework to complete. My daughter is writing about castles and knights. My son is learning about transport and travel. I have school uniforms to iron and life as usual. Yet another busy Sunday. So what are your plans for today?

Five things you didn’t know about me
Five things you didn’t know about me,
These things they make me so happy.
Number one my kids, they are my world,
They make me feel so very proud.
They are also so very naughty and loud.
Number two a book, I can escape,
Into a different world of what the author has made.
My favourite genre is a crime thriller,
A Stephen King mystery can be a chiller.
Carrie, Christine and The Dark Tower.
Number three a walk, a time to reflect,
Time to think, put my thoughts in check.
A walk in the country the scents and the smells,
To enjoy the wildlife and the woodland tales.
The hedgehogs, the badgers, the rabbits and snails.
Number four, to write, to build my creation,
Creating characters of my imagination.
From fictional people and fictional creatures,
Fictional lives and fictional features.
A writer’s life can be lonely, but my characters they keep me company.Number five to dream, to reach for the sky,
Having aspirations of things to try.
Dreams for my kids and dreams for my family,
Calm and security all to be rested and happy.
Dreams of all just being content, being good friends with no pretence.
So, these are five things, all about me.
A blogger, a writer, a lover of tea.
Another thing I love is just to rest,
Too much stress it makes me depressed.
To sit with a book or go for a walk, time to think and time to talk.A thing you might know is I love my garden,
Tending the flowers, making the weeds gone.
Sitting and watching the world go by,
Lying looking at the sky.
And just watching time go rolling by.
So now it is time for the fifth bloggers bash,
Time too meet, dreams to discuss and rehash.
With bloggers meeting from around the world,
All coming to London, plenty of hugs and smiles.
Some friends will meet for the first time, some will travel many miles. So I’m a new blogger, the fifth bash is my first,
I will be there with no time to rehearse.
With much excitement, I’m happy for the meeting,
So many new friends to be greeting.
Just a shame that our meeting will be fleeting. -
It is March again poetry
It is March again so what can I say?
It is a sunny and bright warm day.
Back at work, the kids are back at school,
We return to following life’s same old rules. With mornings of meeting people discussing their wellbeing,
The kids are both happy and on Thursday’s my son has swimming.
The first week he went and just sat by the pool,
Refusing to get in, too scared of not looking cool.We walk through our lives all hoping for the best,
Some of us rarely stopping to take a rest.
Finding time to stop, even for a cup of tea,
So important for all of us, for you and for me.So today I really need to tidy our home,
The kids will not help, won’t tidy their rooms.
Today is a day for the washing and ironing,
The sun has gone in and soon it might be raining. We also have homework along with the vacuuming,
The kids are quite happily, in the front room playing.
Sitting here listening to the washing machine,
Round and round it goes, it works like a dream.I need to move, time to motivate and be productive,
However, I’m struggling today to be constructive.
So much to do , so much to plan.
As life repeats itself again and again.Trying to keep on top of all life’s issues,
Being mum highlights all of its struggles.
From nagging about homework, ensuring they do their reading,
For life is all about the knowledge and learning. So here we are, we are now facing March weather,
The year is racing by, as the wind it blows the pretty heather.
Looking out the window, looking at my garden,
It’s looking like a jungle, the flowers and weeds are growing.Sitting here now the kids are playing with Lego,
Playing quietly but it really makes the time go.
Trying to get them to do their homework, drawing and writing,
Looks like mummy will have to stand over them.An afternoon will be spent, sitting in the kitchen,
Working hard and ideas we will be pitching.
It’s hard as mum to be the chief motivator,
Trying to motivate and be a good elevator.Trying to lift and promote a child’s confidence,
It’s hard to do and they are so independent.
Working and praising, using the right words,
I find this often really very hard.My kids are great but oh they are so hard,
But then easy would be boring , I wouldn’t play my part.
Working and supporting, trying not to nag,
Though feeling I shout too much, don’t want to be seen a hag.So to all mum’s and dad’s I’m sure you do a great job,
The stress of raising kids and being you, it is a great long slog.
Through all the tears we go through and all the times we shout,
Our kids will always give us something to talk about. So now we are in March, it will soon be April,
Bringing with it chocolate, the kids will have their fill.
Thinking of Easter bunnies and the beautiful spring time,
Our hearts may fill with comfort and rhyme.March again as the year races on,
Very soon this March will be over and gone.
So on with today and on with today’s duties,
Wishing to you all a good day! and all mummies and daddies. For more see, The blur of life as it goes by
